Family Day events in Edmonton

Events are being held at the Alberta legislature, Edmonton city hall and the Valley Zoo.

Here are some of the Family Day events in Edmonton

Winterfête at the Alberta legislature 
Noon to 4 p.m.

Events take place indoors and out. Indoor events include a legislature scavenger hunt, magic shows, puppet shows, face painting, craft activities and a smartphone photo booth.

Outdoor events include autograph sessions with local sports celebrities, horse-drawn wagon rides, snowman-making competitions, skating on the south grounds and a performance by the Royal Glenora Skating Club.

Arctic Ambassador Day at the Valley Zoo
Noon to 4 p.m. 

Kids can get their face painted, take part in a scavenger hunt, visit a photo booth and visit the new “Edventure Lodge”.

Edmonton Ski Club 
Noon to 5 p.m.

The club is offering lessons, music on the hill and a barbecue.

Edmonton City Hall & Churchill Square
Noon - 4 p.m.

Families can take a hay ride, try a kick-sled and roast bannock over a fire.  There will also be games and activities, ice sculptures, roving performers and food trucks. Free skate and helmet rentals are available.

Silver Skate Festival 
Hawrelak Park 

The festival runs from Feb. 14 to 23 in Hawrelak Park. In addition to skating on the ice rink, kids can take horse-drawn sleigh rides, play on the ice slide, and see the installation of the fire sculpture.
