Edmonton police are investigating after a suspicious death in the city centre Saturday afternoon.
Police say officers from the downtown division were called out to a bungalow near 102nd Avenue and 120th Street around 3 p.m.
Inside the house, they found a man's body.
Neighbours told CBC News they were surprised to hear about the suspicious death.
“It’s kind of scary,” said Debbie Tsoi, who passed the home often. Tsoi described the resident as a man in his 40s or 50s.
Julie Rossington also lives nearby, and says the neighbourhood is generally very safe.
“It’s a bit concerning for sure. I think with any area at all you definitely have to be cautious at all times regardless.”
Homicide detectives have now taken over the investigation and an autopsy has been scheduled for Monday afternoon.
Police are not releasing the name of the victim until they speak to the victim’s family who live out of province.
