Freezing rain warnings issued for Edmonton, St. Albert, Sherwood Park and other parts of central Alberta have ended as of Thursday afternoon.

But freezing rain warnings remain in effect for areas of Lac La Biche County and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo including Fort McMurray, Environment Canada reports.

A snowfall warning for far northeastern areas of the province, including Fort Chipewyan, has been issued. Snowfall totalling 10 to 15 centimetres is expected.

A low pressure system moving across northern Alberta will continue to give freezing rain to portions of eastern Alberta on Thursday afternoon, but the freezing rain has ended for most of central Alberta.

Edmonton can expect a 30 per cent chance of showers early this afternoon, followed by a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 7 C.

Wind warnings are in effect for the far southwest corner of the province. Areas including Crowsnest Pass and Cardston can expect wind gusts between 90 and 110 km/h throughout the morning.
