With Edmonton's northern latitude and long winters, a little mid-winter light can have a big impact.

That's what artist Dylan Toymaker specializes in: making night magic with lights. He's the lighting designer behind both the Flying Canoe Festival and the new Freezeway in Victoria Park.

Radio Active producer Isabelle Gallant and video producer Rick Bremness teamed up to shed some light on Toymaker's process.

You can see Toymaker's work first-hand when the Flying Canoe Festival kicks off on Feb. 5.
