Police are investigating the second suspicious death in downtown Edmonton in one day.
Police were called to a walk-up apartment at 83rd Street and Jasper Avenue late Monday morning.
An employer called the caretaker at around 10:20 a.m. to check on a male employee who did not show up for work.
When the caretaker entered the suite, he discovered the body.
Sources told CBC News that it appeared that the body had been there for awhile.
Forensics officers were seen looking at a Ford Focus in the parking lot. The vehicle was later taken to a police garage.
The man's body was taken out of the apartment around 7 p.m.
Residents said that the apartment is normally a quiet building.
"Not the best part of the city, obviously, but I don't know, I haven't really witnessed anything unsettling at all since we've been here," said Laks Bal.
"Not much going on around here. It's pretty quiet around this area."
Homicide detectives were already at the scene of a suspicious death at the opposite end of Jasper Avenue at 114th Street, where an 18-year-old man was stabbed to death early Monday morning.
