For the 36th time, hundreds of people carried a cross through Edmonton.

The Outdoor Way of the Cross coincides with Good Friday and commemorates the death of Jesus Christ.

The walk took two hours and saw the participants weave a two-kilometer journey through the downtown core.

Each year organizers choose a theme to focus on so issues of social justice can be examined through the concept of the Gospels.

This year's theme was "Transformation- Ourselves and Our World."

It focused on the some of the sustainable development goals recently approved by the United Nations.

The walk started at the George Spady Centre and concluded at the Hope Mission where several people made speeches about this year's topic.
