Edmonton police charged three men after a 49-year-old man was attacked at a downtown LRT station, thrown onto the tracks, and prevented from getting off.
Police were called at 8:20 p.m. on Nov. 10th to the Churchill LRT Station where the man was attacked following an exchange of words with a large group of men and women.
The man was followed onto the LRT platform by two of the men, assaulted and thrown onto the LRT tracks, said police. The victim tried climbing off the rails, but was prevented from getting back on the platform by a third man.
Several bystanders intervened and helped the victim climb to safety while transit peace officers held the assailants for police.
The victim suffered only minor injuries, but the three men — aged 35; 18; and 25 — are each charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault and are scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
