Edmonton man runs into traffic, killed by car
26-year-old becomes city's 3rd traffic fatality of May long weekend
A 26-year-old man became the city's third traffic death on the long weekend early Monday morning after he was hit by car in southwest Edmonton.
The man was hit at 178 Street and 64 Avenue at 1:15 a.m.
Police believe the man ran onto the southbound lanes of 178 Street at 64th Avenue at 1:15 a.m., when he was hit by car.
He was taken to hospital with severe head injuries, but died shortly thereafter. No charges have yet been laid against the 17-year-old driver.
The man is Edmonton's 12th traffic fatality of the year.
On Saturday a 20-year-old woman was hit and killed Saturday afternoon when a jeep stunt went awry during a parking-lot demonstration.
A two-year-old boy was killed when an SUV jumped a curb and crashed through a dining patio in southwest Edmonton Sunday.
