Edmonton charity helps wife of RCMP run down in standoff
Suspect facing attempted murder charges
The RCMP officer run over during last week’s standoff near Vegreville is now recovering with the assistance of an Edmonton charity.
Cpl. Travis Ogilvie was rushed to hospital with serious injuries Monday night after he was run over by a truck.
Ogilvie is now in stable condition, recovering in an Edmonton hospital.
While her husband is healing, Ogilvie’s wife has been given free room and board at Edmonton’s Valour Place, a charitable organization that gives support to police, soldiers, veterans and their families.
Executive director Lydia Migus said Ogilvie himself will be welcome to stay at Valour Court once he is released from hospital.
“We have support staff here that … if they need to talk someone they can. If they don't, they don't have to,” she said. “There are other families here that can offer a friendly shoulder and a helping hand as well.”
The suspect involved in the standoff was arrested early Tuesday morning and faces attempted murder charges.
