Driver who fled hospital after fatal crash arrested in Grande Prairie
The suspect who fled an Edmonton hospital after a collision that killed a man in January was arrested in Grande Prairie on Thursday.
The 28-year-old man faces a number of charges including impaired driving causing death, dangerous driving causing death and possession of a controlled substance.
Police allege he was the driver of a Jeep Wrangler that slammed head-on into a building near 61 Avenue and Gateway Blvd. around 2 a.m. on Jan. 22.
A male passenger, also 28, sustained life-threatening injuries and died shortly after he was taken to hospital.
The driver sustained serious injuries but went missing from hospital shortly afterwards.
Following his arrest on Thursday, the man was returned to Edmonton where he remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
