Damage is estimated at more than $2 million after a fire in a Devon, Alta., neighbourhood that left four families homeless.
The fire, the biggest the town has ever seen, destroyed four homes and damaged one more.
The town began accepting donations for the families.
Mayor Stephen Lindop said the donations of clothing, diapers, toiletries and toys began to arrive mere hours after news of the fire.
"We've had support from the entire region from St. Albert, Leduc, Beaumont — people phoning, 'What can we give?' and they're descending and arriving with clothes," he said. "As a matter of fact we have so many clothes, we can't take any more."
Lindop suggests if people still want to help, donations of cash or gift cards are best.
Anything unused by the families will be donated to other charities in the region, he said.
A neighbour reported the fire began at around 7:30 a.m. Thursday following what sounded like an explosion.
Nobody was hurt in the fire.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
