Edmonton police are investigating a suspicious death after a man called them about a dead body in a house in central Edmonton early Wednesday morning.

Police found the body after a male resident called them to the house at 119th Avenue and 81st Street at about 5:50 a.m.

"It does appear to be a homicide," said Edmonton police detective Bill Clark. "Until we do a full autopsy and …don't confirm that, … that's the way we're treating it at this time."

Police are not releasing the sex or age of the victim because they still need to notify next-of-kin, Clark said.

They are interviewing the man who made the 911 call.

An autopsy date has not yet been set.
