First Nations and Métis writers, artists and performers taught ways to inspire aboriginal students at the Cree8Success conference in Edmonton on Thursday.

Dao Haddad attended so she could get the best out of her students at Delton School in Edmonton.

"I know on the surface level some things that are working but I'm looking for more ways and more strategies," she said.

The conference featured sessions with authors Richard Wagamese and David Bouchard who both spoke to the CBC's Gareth Hampshire in this report.
