It's been six months since a heavy downpour flooded more than 1,700 homes and businesses in Edmonton.

People affected by flooding have until Jan. 10 to apply for a portion of the $32 million in disaster assistance provided by the province. About 450 claims have been submitted so far.

"Of those, we've had about 225 or so that have been completed and also about close to a million dollars has been paid out in disaster assistance," said Alberta Municipal Affairs spokesman Tim Wilson.

Even though the flooding occurred last summer, some people in the hardest hit areas are still cleaning up.
