City spending $275,000 on LRT ad campaign
The city of Edmonton plans to spend $275,000 in advertising as part of its campaign to get financial support for the southeast expansion of the LRT.
Last week, people were encouraged to post messages of support on Twitter using the hashtag #yeg4LRT.
The city also posted a video to YouTube showing Mayor Don Iveson speaking to people on LRT about what expansion means to them.
Iveson said that the video was produced inexpensively by city staff.
“To get the reach and in order to drive traffic to the website and get participation and raise awareness among our public and mobilize our public, there's a bought media cost to this but everything else has been done in-house,” he said.
Iveson travels to Ottawa today to participate in a meeting with other big city mayors, where they are expected to discuss federal infrastructure funding.
