Charges have been laid in a hit and run that killed 18-year-old Faith Jackson last fall..
The young mother died in hospital early on Oct. 14 an hour and a half after she was struck by a vehicle at 82nd Street and 141 Avenue.
The driver fled the scene. Later that day, investigators found the suspect vehicle, a black 2012 Dodge Charger with front-end damage, dumped in a ditch on Fort Road.
A 33-year-old man was arrested just before noon on Thursday and charged with hit and run causing death, unlawfully causing bodily harm and obstruction.
Acting Det. Marty Mckenna described the nine-month police investigation as extensive.
"There was evidence from the car that needed to be analyzed properly to ensure that we had the right car, first of all, and the right individual, secondly," he said, adding that the investigation was also delayed by some uncooperative witnesses.
Police say the vehicle was registered to the company that employed the accused at the time.
The man also faces an unrelated charge of refusing to provide a breath sample.
