Catholic school support to vote on deal Monday
A tentative agreement has been reached in the nearly three-week old strike by support workers at Edmonton Catholic schools.
"It does address a lot of the outstanding needs," said union spokesman Danny Burrell. "I think it is a good agreement at this time."
Over 900 secretaries, library staff and other support workers walked off the job in earlty September.
While neither side would talk about the specifics of the deal, Catholic school board's spokeswoman says it did deal with many of the concerns the union brought up.
"Those are secretarial workload, job security and wages in the second year of the contract," she said.
Workers are expected to vote on the agreement Monday. If it passes, they could be back on the job as early as Tuesday.
