An Edmonton man who spent 58 hours in a moving truck last week to raise donations for the Edmonton Food Bank says the event was a success.

Dan Johnstone, or Can Man Dan, says he collected 5,000 pounds of food and $12,389 in donations during his Moving Hunger Out fundraising drive.

Johnstone camped in a truck parked outside the Southbrook Sobey's store on 111th Street and Ellerslie Road from 8 a.m. Dec. 22 to 6 p.m. Christmas Eve.

Johnstone sent out an email Friday thanking everyone who made a donation.
