A Camrose dentist who alleged she was assaulted by an Alberta sheriff has been herself been charged with assaulting a peace officer, as well as resisting arrest.

Simona Tibu, 40, was to make her first court appearance Wednesday, but the matter was put over until Sept. 18th in Camrose.

The Justice and Solicitor General's Professional Standards Unit has received a complaint against the sheriff who was allegedly involved.

The sheriff has been placed on desk duty while the RCMP investigates. He has not been charged.
