Cab driver killed after picking up fare in Maskwacis

A Wetaskiwin cab driver has been identified as the victim of a fatal stabbing in Maskwacis on March 3.

RCMP say Dale Selmer Christensen, 52, was stabbed after picking up a fare on the Samson Cree First Nation late Monday night.

RCMP say Christensen’s body was found on the side on the road around 7 a.m. Tuesday.

The accused, a 31-year-old man from Maskwacis, was arrested and charged on Wednesday.  

He appeared in Wetaskiwin provincial court on Thursday.

RCMP don’t believe the stabbing was gang-related.

Christensen was the owner/operator of Wetaskiwin City Cabs
