Brush fire season began Monday in Edmonton with two fires — one at Rundle Park and another in the Kennendale Ravine in Clareview.
The sun and wind are creating tinder-dry conditions, said fire captain Dave Morawski.
"It's like a light switch," he said Monday. "It's just literally yesterday nothing, and now today they're popping up all over the place."
The Kennendale ravine's steep terrain made that fire particularly difficult to extinguish and came within metres of a housing unit.
Neither fires caused any property damage.
