The body of young man who went missing in Whitecourt late Tuesday afternoon has been found.

The 19-year-old was located around 5:25 p.m. Wednesday in the pond in Rotary Park, the last place he was seen alive.

Eight volunteer divers and the RCMP dog team were called in to help with the search.

Rotary Park was closed for the search. It is expected to reopen on Thursday.

RCMP and the Edmonton medical examiner’s office are continuing to investigate.

Police have not released the young man’s name. His family has requested privacy while they grieve.
