Body of man swept downstream found near Quesnell Bridge
Devon RCMP have confirmed the body pulled from the North Saskatchewan River near the Quesnell Bridge in Edmonton on Wednesday is the man who was swept away by the current on Sunday.
The 22-year-old man was crossing the river with a friend around 5 p.m. Sunday, about 150 metres east of the Devon Bridge, when he was swept away.
Fire departments from both Devon and Edmonton, as well as STARS air ambulance, were immediately called to search for him but were not successful.
The man’s family lives in the Edmonton area.
Officials said the current in the North Saskatchewan River is very strong.
