Grande Prairie RCMP were forced to put to down a bear Saturday night after it wandered into the city.
The bear was first spotted shortly before 12:30 p.m. near a group of acreages east of Grande Prairie.
RCMP and Fish and Wildlife officers received calls from people who saw the bear - including one person who said that it might have become aggressive with a person who came across it.
Police located the bear at around 8:30 p.m. and tried to harass it into leaving the city. When those attempts were unsuccessful, Fish and Wildlife officers decided to kill the bear, citing safety concerns.
