A first-degree murder charge has been laid in a May 2012 fire that killed a 28-year-old Edmonton man

A first-degree murder charge has been laid in a May 2012 fire that killed a 28-year-old Edmonton man.

Thaven Philip Gardiner, 38, was arrested on Tuesday in Kelowna, B.C. and charged in the death of Philipp Jochen Woehrle.

Woehrle was found dead in a basement after a fire at a home near 129th Street and 117th Avenue on May 8, 2012.

His death was determined to be a homicide.

Gardiner is expected to be remanded and returned to Edmonton.
