Arrest made in break-in at Alberta premier's farmhouse
A man has been arrested following the break-in at Premier Ed Stelmach's farmhouse last week.
St. Paul RCMP arrested the 34-year-old man from Saddle Lake early Wednesday evening. He is charged with breaking and entering and theft.
The man was identified after RCMP released still photographs from surveillance cameras at the premier's home near the village of Andrew, Alta. The photographs showed a man carrying items to a pickup truck.
The man faces a bail hearing Thursday morning.
Stelmach said he's glad that nobody was home at the time of the break-in.
His home was broken into once before, the premier said, about 15 years ago.
The farm, about 70 kilometres northeast of Edmonton, has been in Stelmach's family for generations.
