An Apple ad filmed in Edmonton has won an Creative Arts Emmy award for Outstanding Commercial.

The 90-second ad was shot on Ada Boulevard in the Highlands neighbourhood.

The commercial, called “Misunderstood” follows a teenager who has his eyes glued to a phone while the rest of the family enjoys the holidays.

It wouldn’t be a Christmas commercial without a heartstring-tugging twist at the end — and a good look at the product.

Neighbours told CBC News that film crews spent three days shooting the commercial at a historic house located on the edge of the River Valley.
