Alberta teacher, hockey coach to learn fate on sex charges
A Spruce Grove, Alta., high school teacher and hockey coach testified Tuesday he spent a night drinking with a 16-year-old boy which culminated in a graphic offer of sex, a courtroom heard Tuesday.
Robert John Paolinelli, 42, is being sentenced on one charge of sexual exploitation.
Today the Crown and Paolinelli's lawyer are arguing over exactly what happened the night of Oct. 4, 2011 in Stony Plain, west of Edmonton.
The hearing is in its second day and may continue into Wednesday.
Sexual exploitation charges are laid in cases where a person in a position of trust or authority touches the body of the young person for sexual purposes.
RCMP in Prince Rupert, B.C. are currently investigating Paolinelli in relation to an assault on a young player decades ago.
Paolinelli was a coach and referee in the community between the mid-80s and late-90s.
