While debate still rages about the three proposed designs for Alberta’s regular licence plates, the province has released a new “Support Our Troops” plate which will be available starting on Wednesday.

The main artwork on the plate pays tribute to four members of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry who died in Afghanistan during the Canadian mission.

The design also has a yellow ribbon and the slogan “Support our Troops.”

The plates will cost $75, on top of the regular registration fees, with $55 going to the Support Our Troops Program.

The program helps current and former members of the Canadian Forces and their families.
