Alberta canoeists go missing on rain-swollen river
Two canoeists rescued, two still missing on Christina River
Search and Rescue are looking for two men who went missing while canoeing in flood-ravaged northeastern Alberta.
Four men from the Lac La Biche area were paddling on Christina River near Janvier, about one hour south of Fort McMurray.
They left last Saturday, but were reported missing Wednesday.
Two of the men, aged 67 and 59, were found stranded on an island Wednesday afternoon and airlifted by military helicopter. Their canoe was later recovered hundreds of kilometres away on the Athabasca River near the Firebag River south of Fort Chipewyan, Alta..
They were treated for minor injuries.
The other two men in the group, aged 66 and 58, are still missing.
Police say with all the heavy rain, rivers in the area are extremely unpredictable.
They are asking anyone with information on the missing men to call.
