500 antlers seized in wildlife trafficking bust
Deer, moose, elk antlers taken from central Alberta service station
Hundreds of big game antlers have been seized by wildlife officers following a four-month undercover investigation in central Alberta.
The officers seized 500 sets of white-tailed deer and mule deer antlers, 36 sets of moose antlers, six sets of elk antlers and one set of caribou antlers from a Sedgewick, Alta., area service station.
The owner faces two counts of unlawfully trafficking in wildlife, one count of possessing wildlife for the purpose of trafficking, and one count of unlawful possession of wildlife.
The man will appear in court next month. He faces penalties up to $100,000 in fines and two years in jail.
Sedgewick is almost 200 kilometres southeast of Edmonton.
