There's plenty of good food on the calendar for this weekend, so hit a patio, grab some barbecue and take some time to spoil your dad.
Hit the patio
When? June 12 from 5 to 9 p.m.
Are you achin’ for some bacon?
What: Have a hankering for ham? A belly for bacon? Jonesing for jerky? Well, look no further than Porkapalooza– an epic BBQ fiesta topped off with live entertainment and music. The festival of all things porcine will take place all weekend at Hawrelak Park, which tasty pork dishes and others on the offer. A full list of vendors and entertainers is available here. When? June 13 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., June 14 from noon to 11 p.m., June 15 from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Go down to the river
What: Cast off your shackles and become a river dog for the day on Saturday for River Day! Start the day off right with a pancake breakfast at Rundle Park, and then spend the day learning to fish, paddle a voyageur canoe and try an introductory kayaking, canoeing or stand-up paddleboarding lesson for just $10.
When? June 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

- The Do it for Dads Walk Run is a fun, family-friendly event, that aims to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer.
- Father’s Day at Fort Edmonton: In their own words: “Fathers will have a chance to demonstrate feats of strength and sophistication!” – also, dads get in free.
- For the more “active” (read: foolhardy) fathers out there, there’s Father's Day Paintball at the Edmonton Paintball Centre
