After a brief hiatus, I'm happy to be back with your list of events happening in and around Edmonton this weekend. There's plenty of live music and entertainment on the calendar as Edmonton plays host to a street food fair, a pop culture explosion and Western Canada Fashion Week.
Take in some live music
What: Whether you're in the mood for alt-rock, fusion folk or 70's pop-rock, you're in luck.
- California's Young the Giant will perform at the Winspear Monday night at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $31.50.
- Canadian folk darling Stephen Fearing (of Blackie and the Rodeo Kings fame) will perform with Ireland's Andrew White at Festival Place in Sherwood Park Sunday at 7 p.m.
- For those feeling a little nostalgic for some good old-fashioned Canadian rock, The Stampeders (think "Sweet City Woman") will play at Century Casino Friday night at 7 p.m. Tickets are technically sold out, but you might get lucky online.
A food frenzy
What: On Saturday, the Shaw Conference Centre will be turned into an indoor street food and entertainment extravaganza for hot chefs cool bEATS. Food and drinks will be supplied by 14 food trucks, and is yours to enjoy while checking out the artistic stylings of numerous artists and entertainers. Tickets cost $125.
When? March 29 from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m.
A spoonful of sugar
What: If you haven't already checked it out, everyone's favourite English nanny Mary Poppins has blown into town and will be performing at the Citadel Theatre through to April 2, with shows happening at 7:30 p.m. daily. Tickets are available online, starting at $35.
On the catwalk
What: For the fashion-inclined, Edmonton is playing host to the Western Canada Fashion Week, with events happening nightly at the ATB Financial Arts Barns (10330 - 84th Avenue). As Canada's second largest fashion show, the event launches new careers every year, giving you the chance to get ahead of the fashion curve. A full list of shows is available here.
When? March 27 to April 3
Just pop it up
What: The Edmonton Pop Culture Fair is celebrating its 10th anniversary this weekend, bringing together more than 200 vendors from across western Canada. Your admission of $7 gets you into the Alberta Aviation Museum (11410 Kingsway Avenue) where all things pop culture will be on display, giving collectors, vendors, enthusiasts and hoarders a chance to meet, show off and add to their own collections.
When? March 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

And don’t forget to turn out your lights for Earth Hour! This year, Edmontonians will be lightening their electrical load from 8:30 to 9:30 Saturday night.
