Don't let the winter blues get you down. This weekend will be warm and sunny, and offers up some of the best weekend activity options seen in months!

Date for laughs

What: It has been proven time and time again that one of the most common qualities people look for in a prospective date is a good sense of humour – a universal truth that Rapid Fire Theatre is actively exploiting in a very fun way this weekend with its 4th annual Date Night Fundraiser at the Citadel Theatre. The improv theatre group is auctioning off 16 dates – including an exclusive tour of BIO-WARE with Die-Nasty’s Mark Meer, an afternoon of comic book shopping with Chris Craddock and a fancy brunch with Julian Faid and Jessie McPhee – all to raise funds for the 2014 Improvaganza Festival. Admission costs $5.

Pop up food and music fest

What: Head over to Ritchie Hall (7727 - 98th Street) Saturday night for an evening of food and music. Sailin’ On Food Truck will be on site serving up a full menu of dishes (there will also be a full bar) while live music by Stepmothers, Morals and Ben Olson play on. The Old Strathcona Record Club will be spinning tunes as well. Entrance costs $7 ($5 for Ritchie Community League Members).

When? January 18 from 6-11 p.m.

Sun’n’ski

What: Although a little ironic in light of the forecast, Sunday is World Snow Day and the Snow Valley Ski Club will be serving up hot chocolate, handing out prizes and more all afternoon to celebrate. Just make sure to put on some sunscreen before hand!

When? January 19 all afternoon

Try something different

What: Feel like you always eat out at the same place? Well, here’s your chance to mix it up a bit! Eight local restaurants will be participating in Fork Fest this weekend, offering multi-course set meals for bargain prices ($25 to $45). A full list of participating restaurants is available here.

When? January 19-23 and 26-30
