Three people are dead, including a 10-month-old baby boy, after a head-on collision near Tofield, southeast of Edmonton, on Saturday night.

The collision happened just after 10 p.m. on Highway 26 near Range Road 161. A car travelling west collided head on with a car travelling east. The eastbound car then rolled into a ditch and came to a stop on its roof.

A 37-year-old male and the 10-month old passenger, both from Wetaskiwin, driving in the westbound car were declared dead on the scene.

The lone occupant of the eastbound car, a 67-year-old woman from Two Hills, was also found dead.

Police said everyone involved in the collision were wearing seatbelts.

Highway 26 was temporarily closed while RCMP investigated. It has since been re-opened to traffic.
