Two people were dropped at the Northeast Community Health Centre after they were shot in the parking lot of a restaurant Tuesday night.
The victims and the driver of a silver Chrysler 300 were sitting in the vehicle near 32nd Street and 118th Avenue around 11:15 p.m. when the shooter walked up to the passenger side window, Insp. Brian Nowlan said.
"The male passenger seated beside [the driver] is the one that's critically injured, and the female passenger seated behind that male passenger received at least one gunshot wound and she's in stable condition," Nowlan said.
The driver dropped the victims at the health centre, and then fled on foot, leaving the vehicle behind.
Both victims are in their 20s. The woman is in stable condition with gunshot wounds to her torso; the man remains in critical condition with gunshot wounds to his upper body. Police aren't sure if the driver was injured.
Nowlan said police have no information to suggest this shooting was linked to the death of a man in a Whyte Avenue apartment building earlier Tuesday evening.
In that case, two men were seen leaving the scene in what police say may have been a silver Honda.
