A bus crash Monday morning north of Fort McMurray left two men in critical condition.

The two men were thrown from the bus when it collided with a flatbed truck on Highway 63 just north of city limits.

"There was just the driver and the one passenger on the bus. Unfortunately, the force of the impact sent both those individuals out of the front windshield of the bus," said Const. Ali Fayad from the Fort McMurray RCMP detachment.

The two injured men were airlifted to hospital in Edmonton, where they remained in critical condition.

The northbound lane of Highway 63 was closed Monday afternoon as police investigated the crash.
