Two people are dead and a third is in hospital after a garage explosion in Mill Woods Monday evening.

District Chief Dennis Hushagen said fire crews got the call around 6:30 p.m., and were on scene at Lee Ridge Road near 36th Avenue within minutes.

When they arrived, the garage was engulfed in flames.

Soon after arriving, fire crews found one person with burn injuries.

“That [person] was transported to hospital,” said Hushagen.

Once the fire was out, two more bodies were found in the wreckage. Their names have not yet been released.

While crews worked, emergency officials blocked off a large area around the site of the explosion.

Hushagen said the official investigation by fire and police is ongoing.

“No cause or determination yet as to what started the fire,” he said.
