One person was killed and three others were injured when two pickup trucks collided near Fairview Sunday night.

The collision occurred around 10:45 p.m. on Highway 2, north of the Dunvegan Bridge.

RCMP say the driver of the southbound truck died at the scene when the vehicle collided head-on with another truck that was heading north.

The driver of the northbound truck sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries and was flown by air ambulance to the QEII hospital in Grande Prairie.

The passenger in the southbound truck and the passenger in the northbound truck received non-life threatening injuries. They were both taken to hospital in Fairview.

Highway 2 was closed for about six hours after the collision and traffic was detoured along side roads.
