An outbreak of deadly flu at a nursing home in Kitchener, Ontario, may be linked to a Christmas party.

Twenty senior citizens have died at the Central Park Lodge home since the holidays.

The coroner's office says the flu outbreak may be traced back to a Christmas party attended by relatives. The first case was diagnosed on Christmas day. A flu outbreak was declared three days later.

The coroner's office is recommending more careful vaccination programs for staff and residents at nursing homes.

It also says there should be better communications among medical officials in identifying outbreaks of infectious diseases.
