Campground murder trial continues in Calgary
A Calgary jury today heard Mathew Conrad's version of how Troy Kraus was killed at a High River Campground.
The 20-year-old Kraus was stabbed during a brawl in August of 1998.
Conrad made a statement to the High River RCMP hours after the incident. Today, that statement was played to the jury.
Conrad says the dispute began after Conrad confronted Kraus about 40 dollars owed to some of his friends.
Conrad says Kraus then showed up at the campground with about 25 of his friends looking for Conrad.
There was a fight and Conrad says he was hit over the head with something he believes was a pipe.
Conrad says he stabbed Kraus to escape. He then ran to the RCMP detachment for help.
