Young girl dies after skiing into tree at Panorama
12-year-old was skiing with her father when she veered off the run into the trees
A 12-year-old girl from Langham, Sask., 35 km north of Saskatoon, has died after skiing into a tree at Panorama Mountain Village.
It happened around 10:30 this morning.
Panorama says the child was skiing with her father when she veered off the run into the trees.
She was airlifted to hospital but died of her injuries.
Panorama says the conditions on the run and visibility were both good at the time and she was wearing a helmet.
“Our hearts and prayers go out to the family. This is a tragic accident and we are doing everything we can to assist the family during this trying time,” said Panorama Mountain Village CEO and president Steve Paccagnan.
“We are all deeply saddened by this event and I want to thank the entire Emergency Response Team for their quick response and professionalism. They did all they could to save this little girl.”
Panorama says other skiers tried to help and the ski patrol attempted CPR.
Her name is not being released until family members are notified.
