A Calgary woman who robbed six banks has been sentenced to eight years in prison.
Stephanie Dawn-Lynn Acoose, 43, sobbed as provincial court Judge Ken McLeod handed down the sentence on Wednesday.
The mother of five committed six heists between 2011 and 2012.
Acoose said she has been a drug addict for more than 20 years.
She told police she robbed the banks because she wanted her children to have a good Christmas.
Defence lawyer Pawel Milczarek said his client accepts the sentence.
"It's certainly within the range that we were seeking,” he said.
With time already served Acoose will spend another six years and two months behind bars.
