A 38-year-old woman from the Calgary area was killed east of Hanna, Alta., after a car and a pick-up truck collided Friday just before 7:30 p.m. MT.
A child travelling with the woman was flown by air ambulance to a Calgary hospital with serious injuries.
The two people in the pick-up truck, both from Saskatchewan, were not seriously injured.
Police say road conditions in that area were reportedly slushy and slippery at the time.
The deadly crash was one of three on Alberta’s highways in the last 24 hours.
Seven people are dead after a head-on collision on Highway 63, a northern Alberta highway that connects Fort McMurray to Edmonton.
And in southern Alberta, a 19-year-old man is dead after a collision with a cattle liner near Beiseker.
Hanna is 2 ½ hours northeast of Calgary.
