Investigators are looking for witnesses to a police shooting last weekend that left one suspect dead and another in critical condition.

It happened Friday night when officers caught up with an erratically driven stolen vehicle on Deerfoot Trail near McKenzie Lake Blvd. S.E.

Police shot and killed Jason Roy, 34, when the driver — boxed in by police cruisers — tried to ram the officers with the stolen vehicle.

Ashley Silver, 26, who was with Roy in the vehicle, was also critically injured.

Police were initially acting on reports of shots being fired in the nearby 1400 block of Copperfield Boulevard S.E. and followed the suspicious vehicle to the southbound lanes of Deerfoot Trail.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is asking anyone who saw the shooting or the events leading up to it to call them at 403-592-4306.
