A stretch of 14th Street in northwest Calgary remains closed due to a watermain break.

The busy road is closed from Northmount Drive to 24 Avenue N.W., and traffic is being detoured.

The closure caused traffic problems in northwest Calgary Thursday and officials are expecting more traffic delays during Friday morning's commute.

"This closure will be ongoing until further notice. Major delays to traffic are expected during the afternoon and evening rush hours, and motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes if possible," city officials said in a press release.
