Train fatality in S.E. Calgary raises questions
CP Rail official says that train hadn't travelled over site of accident
CP Rail and police are investigating a train fatality in southeast Calgary that's raising questions about what happened.
Police say a man in his 50s was trying to cross the track by crawling underneath one of the trains near Eighth Street and Ninth Avenue S.E.
It's not clear what happened after that but he was taken to hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries and later died.
CP Rail workers first spotted the injured man around 6:30 a.m. MT.
However, an official with the rail company says that train workers who found the man hadn't travelled over the site of the accident.
Officials and police are now trying to figure out what happened and whether an earlier train may have been involved.
