The Paxton ruling as it happened
CBC News reporter Katy Anderson live blogged from the courtroom as a Calgary judge ruled that Dustin Paxton was guilty of brutally assaulting his roommates.
Paxton was found guilty of aggravated and sexual assault, but not of unlawful confinement, against his former business partner and roommate, who Paxton says he viewed as a brother. Paxton was also found guilty of assault with a weapon and uttering threats against his former roommate Abraham Chutta.
In addition, Court of Queen's Bench Justice Sheilah Martin ruled Monday afternoon against a request from Paxton's defence lawyers for a stay of the proceedings, rejecting the claim that the accused did not get a fair trial.
