Telus warns of scam targeting Alberta, B.C. customers
Scammer tries to convince customers to send money and personal information
Telus is warning of an escalating vacation scam targeting its customers in Alberta and B.C.
The company says the calls use a recorded voice to thank people for choosing Telus and to tell them they have won a free vacation for being a good customer.
A person then comes on the line to try to convince customers to give them personal information or send money as a down payment on fees for the vacation.
Telus says the calls are fraudulent and it urges anyone who receives one to hang up.
The company also says their security unit is working with police to determine where the calls are coming from.
