A stolen gun was seized from a high school student's locker just north of Calgary, said the RCMP.

Police said Wednesday the 15-year-old student brought the unloaded handgun to Bert Church High School in Airdrie and was trying to sell it.

He stored it in his locker, but did not use it in an "offensive manner" at any point, said the RCMP.

The firearm had been reported stolen during a break-in in Langdon, a town 60 kilometres southeast of Airdrie, said police.

The student has been charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon obtained by crime, and possession of a weapon with tampered serial number. He has a court date scheduled for April 24.
